Potty training!!

Last week we decided to take the plunge and really give this potty training thing a go, with baby #2 due in Nov, I figure this will give us a good 6 months to get Harper out of diapers (or mostly out) before we have to start buying little teeny tiny ones πŸ™‚

She is almost exactly 2 and 3 months, we’ve put her on in the past and she’d gone a few times but never really seemed that interested.. I was not going to push it by any means and figured she’d do it when she was ready. I mean if the kid is still in diapers come Nov. oh well, I wasn’t gonna cry about it. I didn’t want to go the little potty seat route because 1-I think they’re gross and a dang pain to clean, and 2-that’s just one more step getting her to go on the big potty eventually right? I purchased this awhile back and I stinking LOVE IT!!!! Has a magnet so the mini seat just sticks to the lid out of the way when not in use, and she feels so big using the big potty like us! It’s super easy to clean too which is a plus in my book!

I took her to Walmart to pick out whatever panties she wanted and this I think sealed the deal, she picked Minnie and Daisy, Doc and Sofia (big surprise) and was SOOO excited to wear them, I told her she had to tell me when she had to go so she didn’t pee on Minnie or Sofia and ever since we started she’s been a ROCK STAR!!

“Pee pee potty” she shouts every time she has to go and we take her in and she goes πŸ™‚ We do have to help her but I don’t mind at all, being the clean freak that I am I’d rather help than there be pee all over haha! I got this stool too once she gets a little better/bigger I think she’ll be able to do it herself and she climbs up on it to wash her hands as well.

Since we started last week she’s only had two accidents, one when she was eating lunch so I think she just forgot. We are SO proud of our baby girl and can’t believe how much she is growing up! She still wears a diaper at bed and nap but a lot of the time wakes up dry! So that’s the next step πŸ™‚ Β A lot of praise is key I think, making her feel so big and special every time she goes, as well as some sweet panties to seal the deal! Good luck mamas and daddys who are giving this a go, like I said I think they just are ready when they’re ready, as with everything in life, these mini humans sure have minds of their own and every one of them grow at different rates ❀

Happy March!

Now that March has arrived thought I’d share a super easy little art project that your littles will love and will fill your home with green! Harper is OBSESSED with painting and really anything art related lately so I came up with this cute little idea that turned out just adorable!

First have your tot paint on green construction paper to her/his little hearts desire. We did about three paintings until it was everywhere and needed to be cleaned up πŸ™‚

Next step, when they dry, cut different sized shamrocks out! We hung them on the window to replace the hearts that were up! Totally cute right? She loves pointing at them and saying “geeeeen mama”!

Ohh TWOdles!!

Harper is turning the big T.W.O next Saturday and one of her friends is going to be out of town so we decided to have her party a week early! I decided awhile ago I was gonna do a Minnie theme because she loves her some Mickey Mouse Clubhouse! (Daisy seems to be her fave but still went with Minnie which I’ll get to why in a minute here) When you think Minnie red, hearts and polka dots come to mind right? So, I figured perfect, I’ll hit up the after Valentines day sales and get a ton of new heart decor! I ended up mixing pink in too since we still had some stuff left over from her birthday last year. I LOVE the way everything turned out, exactly how I had pictured it in my head, she loved it even more which made it that much better πŸ˜‰ After all this day was all about her. ❀

This second group of pics just cracks me up…SO shows her silly little personality ❀ I basically made everything and got ideas everywhere from my brain to Pinterest! This was all SO easy and all done here and there when I had spare time. I cut out way too many circles for my own good in the end haha! This cute shirt a friend of mine got for her in Disneyland, which I just cut a 2 out of felt and sewed by hand on, so it was easy enough to take the stitching out for continued wear! She had this tutu already as well that I stitched felt hearts on to be removed later too! I made this adorable sparkle Mickey clip out of felt and glitter that I glued to a little clip. I’ve been making her hair accessories forever since they are insane expensive on Etsy or anywhere else really for that matter!

For the cake I got 2 boxes of Funfetti bc its my fave and dyed one batch pink so every other layer would be pink πŸ™‚ Turns out I only used 3 of the 4 8 by 8 rounds because all 4 were too high for my cake standΒ with the lid on with the toppers I got, found here. These toppers were a HIT, she screamed when she saw the cake and she has insisted on sleeping with little plastic Minnie and Daisy since LOL. Β I bought Funfetti hot pink frosting rather than dying white as well as white and used the pink on the bottom layer, mixed the pink and white for the middle and used white on top for an ombre look. (I did the same last year and loved it so much I decided to just do it again.) It tasted amazing too which really is all that counts right? πŸ˜‰

I made the banner with card stock and construction paper as well as the Minnie I taped on the heart centerpiece and the ones I taped on the juice boxes. The hearts on the table and heart toothpicks were clearance steals as well as the heart garland and gift bags. I glued rhinestones on the silverware to make them look glam and the “holder” they’re in is a sparky koozie! I made bows using strawberries and blueberries stuck with toothpicks (which I forgot to bring out of the fridge for the party after I took these pics) DANG IT! Harp enjoyed them later anyway haha!

Hot dogs are every kids favorite right? And SO easy to just throw in the crockpot with water to cook themselves so they are ready for go time! I made this cute little sign for the crockpot..because I’m crazy and had to have the Clubhouse touch on everything haha! Served with string cheese and goldfish for the perfect lunch!

I printed off coloring sheets online so the kids could color after they played for awhile and had lunch, Harper colored on each of her guests sheets as well as her own which did not impress them, but hey what can ya do with an almost two year old trying to share the love..ha!

It was so funny she got really shy when “Happy Birthday” started (totally cute) but then the rest of the day sang it to herself. πŸ™‚ She blew out the candles like a little champ and hopefully made an awesome wish. πŸ™‚ We opened presents before her friends left and she had a BLAST! We have been getting packages in the mail this past week from friends and family back home and I’m sure she has no idea why she’s getting all of these fun presents but she is loving it no doubt!

Balloons really are a hit for a two year old and this morning she came downstairs and the first thing she did was yell BLOONS!!!! Β Her and daddy had fun playing with them before her guests arrived!

It was the perfect day and I can’t wait to for another fun party next year! I’ll leave you with a mama and mini selfie because thats how we do and my awesome ‘Jamicure’ that went along with the theme. ❀

“Hearts” and Crafts

With Valentines Day right around the corner, I figured we needed to fill our house with even more hearts. A GREAT excuse to whip up a craft..or two. πŸ™‚ This first one I wasn’t sure how it would turn out but decided whatever, if it was a complete disaster and didn’t work at least Harper would enjoy the painting any who.

First step, put tape in a heart design on construction paper.

Then put your tot in a paint shirt and let her/him go wild πŸ˜‰

Yes it was all over the table too, and her but hey thats what washable paint is for right? While that was drying I added some purple food coloring and let her paint a couple other masterpieces.

Then we proceeded to do foot and handprints on paper, then cut a heart around them πŸ™‚ TOO CUTE! She thought painting her feet was the most hilarious thing ever…

When the paint is dry, peel off the tape to expose the cutest piece of “heart” work EVER!!! πŸ™‚ With the other paintings I cut random hearts out and hung on the window!

Hope you have some fun these next couple days with your littles and have the best Valentines Day yet!

Christmas Eve Eve!!

With Christmas Eve tomorrow we have been doing some fun crafting and Christmas related fun! This is my FAVE time of year, I love everything about it and all of December is solely Christmas around here! We of course did the annual drive around to check out Christmas lights and Harper just thinks all the pretty lights are SO COOL! Especially the blow up Mickey, Minnie and Olaf that are in the neighborhood! We had to wear our matching Christmas shirts too which made this outing that much better!

We never get family pics because we rarely have anyone to take one of the three of us so this year I was gonna make it happen…with every intention of getting Chrismas cards made…go figure I didn’t get around to doing that (I’M SO BAD!!) But anyway I love the way they ALL turned out and am gonna get a bunch framed so at least I have that πŸ˜‰ We just went down to the lake in town on day that wasn’t freezing and I had a friend take some, here are a few of my faves.

I skipped taking the Harpster to see Santa last year because I knew she either could care less or would be scared, plus we were super busy with wedding prep so this was the year. πŸ™‚ I wasn’t sure how she’d do, literally had no idea but didn’t think it would go well, she’s quite the mama and daddy’s girl right now. She loves Mickey’s Twice upon a Christmas right now and says Santa when he comes on so that was my tad bit of hope! The Santa here was awesome to say the least and his helper Elf was just as amazing! The lady grabbed her and was talking to her, let her play with her light up necklace & she was all smiles already! Handed off to Santa went just as smooth! She was a little iffy but we got some good smiles and all was good!

Lucky girl even left with a candy cane, cookie and reindeer horns!! She was so proud walking out of the mall πŸ˜‰

One of my friends got us a Gingerbread house kit for an early Christmas gift and again, I had an idea of how this was gonna go with an almost two year old but it was entertaining and fun to watch her help me decorate! I put the house together and made sure it was good and dry before letting her help, she thought it was the best thing ever, having candy in dishes right in front of her and definitely ate more pieces than she put on the house or cookies πŸ™‚ (as I had expected) hehe!

IMG_3173IMG_3171 IMG_3202 IMG_3226 IMG_3218IMG_3211IMG_3227

Next on to a Christmas craft, I looked on Pinterest and found this cute idea of a Rudolph with her handprints. She thought it was the funniest thing in the world I was painting her hand and giggled the whole time we were doing this. How cute is this little chubby brown hand?!

So you just put a handprint on the paper, then flip it and do one more, then I had her put white fingerprint snow in the sky, covered with glitter, (because everything is better with glitter), 4 black fingerprints for the hoofs and glue on a red nose, eye, and a jingle bell! I used a rhinestone for the eye and a button for the nose but you can really use anything you can find or even paint them on too! Of course with a toddler this couldn’t go perfectly smooth with no mess & after I put the glitter on she picked up the bottle and dumped the whole thing in one second but hey, I guess the kid just loves glitter as much as her mama? πŸ˜‰

Here’s how our finished product turned out! I’m in love and for sure gonna stick this in a frame to bring out on display every Christmas!

I’ll leave you with a couple pics of us in the matching shirts I told you about in my Christmas gift post! Happy Christmas Eve Eve! I hope you all have the best holiday yet!

Root Mineral Makeup

So recently I was in the running to become one of 10 models to represent the Root makeup company and was chosen!! I figured I’d share the love and let all of you in on this greatness! I found this makeup line (made in Waverly, IA) less than a year ago & since have bought basically every product made! This is an ALL NATURAL, Vegan line that uses NO fillers like so many others, only minerals! Being a busy Mama, makeup isn’t the first thing on my to-do list, however I like feeling put together without the hassle of sitting in front of a mirror for an hour. Also being all natural is huge for me, especially when it comes to balms and lipsticks, IΒ don’t want to be putting toxins into my baby girl when giving her kisses! Recently I read you shouldn’t put anything on your face you wouldn’t eat…think about that the next time you put on your makeup…those toxins sink right into your body.

Let’s talk Pearl Powder for a moment. The coverage of this foundation is completely flawless and lasts all day until washed off. It’s also so light you can’t tell you even have anything on! I really have never used anything like this. I sometimes add a few drops of water to some powder in the lid of the jar to make an even more full coverage liquid makeup as well! You can even buy small sample jars for just $2 to find your color before buying a full size! Here’s a great guide to find your perfect color! Below are some different looks and links to what I’m wearing πŸ™‚ Follow me on Instagram @rootprettychristine for more looks and upcoming deals! This team is making new products almost daily and just came out with some FAB lipsticks that I’m so in love with!

Here I’m wearing Pretty Booster Medium as well as my Pearl Powder foundation shade 4+6 custom mix, light bronze and Posey as blush. Eyes I used In the Navy as a liner and shadow and lined under eye with Diamond shadow and applied the FABULOUS new Root 100% natural, vegan mascara, the only mascara I will EVER wear again. Also wearing Gossip Pretty Balm. (These tinted balms are amazing you guys)

This look was achieved using Pretty Booster Medium again, Pearl Powder 4+6 mix, Light Bronzer and Posey blush on my face, then to give those eyes a pop I used Posey on my lids over a liner of Black Beauty, applied wet and Diamond under my eye as a highlighter, also applied wet! Before applying Root mascara I always dust my face with Setting Silk which gives everything a good set as well as eliminates that dewy look that can happen throughout the day! On my lips I’m wearing Gossip Pretty Balm.

Here’s a good shot of how amazing this mascara is!! It really is the best EVER guys! It’s really light so it doesn’t weigh your lashes down and is water resistant too! GET SOME! And last but not least, here’s a special for all of you!

Christmas Ideas for Girls (and boys too)!

Since Nic gave you guys some GREAT ideas for boys, wanted to give you some ideas for girls and what is on Harper’s “wish list” this year! Although a LOT of these items are unisex! EVEN BETTER! Anyone who knows me knows I’m already done with my shopping…and I have been for awhile πŸ˜‰ So here it is!

I’m all about having one big present under the tree on Christmas morn & Harper just happens to be a bit obsessed with chairs right now (wonder who’s daughter she is) πŸ˜‰ PERFECT idea for a big gift. So I had been searching FOREVER for one that

1-would fit in our tiny living room

2-wasn’t outrageously priced but was still good quality

3- would semi go with our decor. A friend of mine told me to check out the Amazon warehouse deals, they have daily deals as well as items that have a broken box and such that they can’t sell for the original price! (I’m an Amazon fanatic… how did I not know about this???) SO I checked it out and scored this little number that I myself want to live in!! It had a broken box that was all taped up so I got it for $40 mini ottoman included!!

Β chair

I’m trying to stay away from clothes this year for gifts for Christmas but am dying over these new santa shirts I ordered us from a little shop I’ve supported for a long time called SaSea, I think Harp has every holiday shirt she has ever made.. I was going to buy them last year but didn’t so knew when they came back out I was gonna order them. This pre-order also came with a matching santa tote πŸ™‚ How COOL right?!! They are the softest shirts ever and I love the baseball sleeve style! I love doing mama and mini and can’t wait to get some pics in these…WILL be wearing these Christmas morn for SURE!

Β youthsant adultsant

Harpster is really getting into puzzles and her brain is taking everything in right now so what better gift then this set of awesome wooden puzzles! I love Melissa & Doug brand everything and these are adorable, durable and affordable, colors, numbers and letters?!! Sign us up!

Get them here!

I also think now is the perfect time to work on fun learning games like these cubes! At almost two “Fun” learning is the best right? Again Melissa & Doug found here!

So I’m all about trying to save money, around the holidays especially, who isn’t right? ALWAYS looking to find a deal, not pay shipping, never pay full price. We have a local “Mama’s Marketplace” page on Facebook here, check these out people! I’m SURE locally you have something of this sort! I pretty much refuse to buy new baby and toddler toys that will most likely get played with for approximately an hour then thrown at the dog never to be touched again.. I think I must get it from my mom, a Goodwill regular who has found our entire family some insanely amazing “preloved”Β things!! I’ve picked up SO much for Harper in the past few months and already pretty much have her birthday done as well! I’ve scored a whole giant set of Mr. Potato head & fam, a Little Tikes baby crib, an outdoor play gym, as well as SO many other things! These dolls from the Disney Store are among the awesomeness I’ve purchased, all three for $10! She is SO into dolls right now she’s gonna LOVE them I just know it!

So for your littles check into used things!! They are not going to know the difference I promise! Your husband will thank you in the end πŸ˜‰ Hope these ideas help anyone who is in a Christmas shopping rut! Happy Holidays!

Fall Festivities!

Hey all!! Just wanted to share a few of my favorite things right now because October is my favorite month due mostly to my favorite season FALL!! AND it’s the start to the holiday season and holiday decorating..what I pretty much live for!! πŸ˜‰ We all know I have a bit of an obsession for wreaths so I whipped up this fun Halloween one with a wire wreath, some burnt orange mesh, purple tulle, and the Halloween sign I had on my door last year! I love the way it turned out! I hadn’t originally planned on using the tulle but it was too bare without and you could see the wire wreath through it! I also am going to add some spiders but didn’t have any so they are on my list!
One of my friends that lives across the street from me loved it so much she asked me to whip her up one as well so I went back to my ol’ fave yarn style and came up with this! I love this one so much too I was tempted to keep them both! πŸ˜‰

I also have a new fave cocktail I have to share because 1-it’s delicious and 2-it looks like it should have a Halloween name…my coworker calls it the strawberry shortcake so we will go with that until I come up with a new one. Maybe the unborn? (too gross)?! Probably, so Strawberry shortcake it is.. I changed up her recipe a bit and mine consists of vodka, cherry Dr. McGillicuddy’s, 7up, cranberry juice and cream (I use half and half which makes it look disgusting because it curdles) LOL I don’t measure anything..ever so just wing it and I’m sure it will turn out delish..trust me! This glass is my absolute favorite thing right now thanks to my FAB big sister for making us a set when I spied them last year on Pinterest..her version is so to die for I can’t even stand it!
In case you wanted a full shot of these FAB nails you see as well here ya go! My maybe current Jamberry fave called Loud Mouth that I paired with a pixel tile accent, next set will be Halloween themed for sure but I just LOVE these! Link to my Jam page is on the side if you HAVE to get some as well! πŸ˜‰

I’ll leave you with some Halloween decor and an adorable tot bundled up for a park playdate! Happy October to all!

Our 4th!

The 4th of July will always hold a special place in my heart because it’s the day Sean and I started dating in 2004…I know I’m OLD ;)! Plus it’s my birthday week and everyone who knows me knows I don’t just celebrate my birthday, it’s a whole week celebration! πŸ™‚ The ONE thing that didn’t happen on our wedding day that I wanted was fireworks lit off over the river after we said our I do’s (I know if that’s all that was missing…perfect day right?!) Well anywho, imagine my excitement when the one..and only..excitement that happens in this town is over the week of the 4th! Yay!! So Harper and I did our nails in some awesome patriotic Jamberry wraps and headed off to the parade the weekend before the 4th! It was Harper’s first parade and she LOVED it!

I can’t get enough of these little toes with Jams on them!!

I don’t know what this face is but I swear she was having fun!

She even waved her flag like a pro! πŸ™‚

I of course had to make a festive new wreath for the door after getting in the spirit after the parade and I just LOVE how it turned out!

So after all of this excitement over the weekend we celebrated my birthday Monday! It was very low key and just perfect with my two faves complete with champagne, purple daisies, lemon meringue in mason jars and pizza!

On Wednesday grandma Jane came to stay with us for a few days! It was so nice having her here! We took her to the lake on a little hike around it, showed her some of our favorite places to eat, and just enjoyed our little entertainer Harper while relaxing!

photo (8)

On the 4th she watched Harp for awhile so Sean and I could have a little date! It was GREAT! After dinner we came home and lit off some little fireworks and sparklers of course…Harper’s face explains what she thought of this stick with fire shooting out of it haha!Β image_2

Most of the time was spent chasing Harper as she ran to the neighbors to get into stuff on their patio however..as usual πŸ˜‰

I was excited to finally get a few pics of the three of us since that RARELY happens and we ALL know how much I love pictures! Here are a few of my faves ❀

I hope everyone had a wonderful and safe holiday!
